THE SMILE DESIGN JOURNEY

At DiPilla Dentistry of Chicago, our experienced team will guide you through the entire smile design process for the best outcome possible. This process will be unique to every patient, as every smile we treat comes with its own set of challenges and desired aesthetic. Below is a rough guideline of the typical smile design journey. THE TEMPORARY SMILE

During the first part of the process, we will work with you to create a temporary smile. This will take into consideration your needs, desires, and facial structure. Our goal is to find the perfect shade, shape, and proportions to complement your face and create a natural-looking appearance. Using this information, our experts create a temporary appliance that you will wear for a period of two weeks. During this time, you’ll be able to evaluate the look and feel of your new smile to determine your likes and dislikes.

THE IMPRESSION

Once the two-week period has passed, we will discuss your experience with the temporary smile, and make any necessary adjustments based on your feedback. We will then take impressions of your mouth to create a mold, so our master ceramicist can create the perfect permanent appliance for you.  

THE PERMANENT SMILE

Once your permanent restoration has been completed, we will provide you with a try-in appointment. With this opportunity, you will be able to preview your new smile and ensure that it fits and feels just right.

RE-CONTOURING

The day after you are fitted for your brand-new permanent appliance, we will re-contour any necessary areas and polish your smile to perfection. This is to ensure the prosthetic looks truly natural and fits you comfortably.

FIVE-YEAR CHECK-IN

After a period of five years, we will follow up with you to evaluate how your new smile is holding up and if any adjustments need to be made. At this point, your facial muscles will have entirely adjusted to your new appliance, and this will ensure that the prosthesis feels seamlessly integrated with your oral anatomy.
